Snap Fitness Franchise to Open in Streetsboro, OH. Congrats Pat McCoy!

October 24, 2007 by admin · Leave a Comment

(FranBest Fitness)  Joel Libava, The Franchise King of Cleveland, has informed us that Pat McCoy, a gentleman Joel helped to find the right franchise opportunity, is just about ready to open his first of 3 Snap Fitness franchises. The Grand Opening of Pat’s first Snap Fitness is scheduled for later this month in Streetsboro, OH Here.

According to the announcement on Joel’s blog:

Pat is a Hudson resident who almost heard my seminar on franchising at a Cleveland outplacement office.
He had a family vacation planned, and couldn’t attend. We talked via phone before he left town, and he and his wife, Julie spent a couple of hours in my Chagrin Blvd. office, where we really got to know one another, and I was able to present a couple of franchise concepts that I felt could be a nice fit for them.

In his former corporate life, Pat was a Global Marketing manager. Pat seemed like a guy who had made up his mind that corporate America just was not the place for him anymore. Before he left on his vacation, he read over some of the material that I sent him, in order to be better prepared for our in-person meeting. He was prepared. As he learned more about Snap Fitness, he became very engaged, and the thought of being a multi-unit franchise owner became very appealing.

Best of luck, Pat. If anyone reading this lives in the Streetsboro area, stop by and see Pat’s facility.  Better yet..join his club, and get in shape!

Joel provides a free “matchmaking service” to those looking for franchise opportunities in Ohio.  Feel free to contact Joel at 216-831-2610. Or click here to learn more about how he can help you find the right opportunity.

Congratulations, Pat McCoy, from FranBest Fitness.  Best of luck with your Snap Fitness franchises!

Women’s fitness chain has a healthy outlook

Fit Zone franchise to grow from current 29 locations to nearly 70 within the next year.

* * * * *

“We have a fitness center that every woman would want to be a member of,” said Shannon, who started Fit Zone for Women in 2003. “It’s not a bare-bones facility like some of the other facilities. We have real equipment that gives women real results.”
Fit Zones offer women cardiovascular and circuit training equipment along with classes in a facility that eliminates swimming pools, showers and other amenities women don’t use when they are working out in a club, Shannon said.

Members vary in their exercise routines, she said. Some come three to four times a week to work out. Others only come for the group classes, which are included in the $39 monthly charge.

Women have become a growing majority of health club members, accounting for 57 percent of national membership, according to the International Health, Racquet and Sportsclub Association.

“The rising female membership percentages may be due to the increase in the number of female-only health club facilities,” the association reported about the $15.9 billion health club industry.

Rick Romeo, Fit Zone’s director of franchise development, expects to have 200 locations operating in the next three years in the Midwest and around the country. The company has targeted several Detroit suburbs for new locations, including Rochester Hills, Macomb Township, Auburn Hills, Birmingham and Plymouth, and outstate locales ranging from Traverse City to Port Huron.

“Fitness is one of the largest growing areas in franchising,” Romeo said. “We think it’s aggressive, but we think it’s realistic.”

The Kalamazoo-based company has just started to emphasize franchises outside of the Midwest and is looking for people to invest between $100,000 to $150,000 to open a new club.

A typical Fit Zone has between 900 to 1,200 members and covers 4,000 square feet, includes 12 pieces of cardio equipment, 12 pieces of circuit equipment, locker rooms, private changing areas and a group exercise class area.

Want to Return to a Healthy Lifestyle, But Don’t Know How to Begin? A Specialty Gym May Be the Answer
CARPINTERIA, Calif., Oct. 16 /PRNewswire/ — As America’s health and
fitness levels continue to decline, many of those in the worst shape are
afraid to set foot in a “regular” gym to reverse their poor health because
they somehow feel inadequate or overwhelmed and don’t know how to begin.
For these individuals, boutique gyms that specialize in particular segments
of the population may be the answer. Specialty gyms provide a more intimate
setting for those returning to a healthy lifestyle — or starting a fitness
program for the first time. Personal training and individualized attention
are key components of this new breed of gyms.
Bulldog Fitness, a gym franchise for kids only, capitalizes on the new
exer-gaming trend to engage their young members. Playstation2 Game Bikes,
the Treadwall (a rock climbing wall that moves with you), and DDR Dance
Machines are favorites of their clientele.
Meanwhile, Irene Pastore of Senior Fit in New York City attests that
“age is no excuse for infirmity.” Her boutique gym focuses on the health
risks associated with sedentary living as well as the threat a sedentary
lifestyle poses to loss of independence. Personal training programs are
designed specifically for seniors depending on their special needs.
“We feel that the segments of the population that need the most
guidance often don’t know where to turn. If America is going to reverse its
current health decline, the public and healthcare industry needs to focus
more attention on certifying personal trainers to address the unique needs
of clients,” says Dr. Sal Arria, CEO and founder of the International
Sports Sciences Association (ISSA). Dr. Arria asserts that those returning
to a fitness regimen should make certain that they choose a trainer who
holds a specialized certification that qualifies them to work with their
individual area of need.
About ISSA
Since 1988 the International Sports Sciences Association (ISSA) has
provided certification and continuing education to over 80,000 fitness
professionals. The ISSA offers eight specialization certificates, including
Specializations in Youth Fitness, Older Adults, and Performance Nutrition.

Stroller Strides Fitness Franchise Provides Fun & Fitness

Excerpted from Kalamazoo Gazette Taking strides toward fitness
Monday, October 08, 2007 BY JEFF BARR

PORTAGE– A growing number of moms about town have been gathering five mornings a week, babies in tow, to take part in a maternal and musical exercise extravaganza.

Fitness is the driving force behind the Stroller Strides meetings, but most of the moms say the friends they’ve made are just as important as the pounds they’ve lost.

* * * * *

Thirteen mothers and their babies ranging in age from 12 weeks to 2 years were part of Friday’s gathering. The moms moved nonstop during their workout, sometimes singing songs to their babies in strollers as the mothers did exercises in a large circle in the middle of the gym. Then it was off on a circular fitness parade around the facility, moms pushing strollers and working out at the same time.

Maureen Weston, 27, of Kalamazoo, is mother to 2-year-old May and owns the local franchise of Stroller Strides, which is based in San Diego. There are more than 600 Stroller Strides groups nationwide, three in Michigan. The Portage franchise was the first in the state when it was established in June 2006.

* * * * *

The group has 25 regular members, and anywhere from eight to 16 is the typical number that gather at 9 a.m. They gather at The Courthouse on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays and at The Crossroads mall on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Workout sessions last an hour, followed by more activities for the babies and further fellowship for moms.

Dennis Mulgannon is another potential franchiser pumped up for the three-day event, where at least 10,000 visitors are expected to check out 150 or so business concepts at the Los Angeles Convention Center.

He’ll be talking up his back-to-basics Athletic Nation Men’s Fitness Gym concept, which grew from a book he wrote about his own weight-loss and fitness regimen. His target customers are men ages 35 to 60 who don’t work out and won’t go to a big-box gym.

“My client isn’t going to roll around on a bouncy ball,” said Mulgannon, president of the San Jose-based company. “You come into our gym — it’s serious time.” The company has four facilities and agreements to open more, including one in La Jolla.

Fitness Together Suggests Core Components of a Fitness Franchise Opportunity

There are more opportunities in the wellness industry available today than ever before. New fitness, nutrition and wellness franchises are sprouting virtually by the day, and with an unlimited number of business opportunities at your fingertips, making a decision on which path to take can be a daunting one. To help business opportunity seekers with their search, the Fitness Together Franchise Corporation today released the core components of a quality franchise and legitimate business opportunity that one must consider before getting involved.

Highlands Ranch, CO (PRWEB) October 2, 2007 — There are more opportunities in the wellness industry available today than ever before. New fitness, nutrition and wellness franchises are sprouting virtually by the day, and with an unlimited number of business opportunities at your fingertips, making a decision on which path to take can be a daunting one.

After all, as a wellness entrepreneur, what could be better than designing your day the way you want it and exercising on your own time frame? Many entrepreneurs are doing this while simultaneously earning a great living helping countless people realize a better quality of life through fitness and wellness.

To help business opportunity seekers with their search, the Fitness Together Franchise Corporation today released the core components of a quality franchise and legitimate business opportunity that one must consider before getting involved.

“Not all franchises and business opportunities are equal,” reports Kevin Betts, President of the Fitness Together Franchise Corporation. “A legitimate business model is built on a solid foundation of proven daily operations, marketing systems, and administrative procedures. Business systems like these require a minimum of at least a few years of successful operation before the business opportunity can be made available for a new entrepreneur to take advantage of.”

Betts began his career with Fitness Together 15 years ago as a personal trainer in one of the first studio locations. After leading the location to record levels of service and revenue, Betts quickly rose in the organization to executive status, and was recently named President of Fitness Together, where he was instrumental in their latest achievement of expanding the Fitness Together franchise opportunity into the U.K. and Ireland.

Fitness Together takes steps to ensure that every new entrepreneur fully understands the process of the opportunity and provides an up-to-date Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC), a document that helps the potential franchisee understand the opportunity in full. Fitness Together also helps the potential owner navigate their way through the substantial paper trail, and, of course, offers advice on what to look for and what to avoid in a fitness franchise. Here are four topics that a new fitness business owner must take into consideration:

1. Business Model: How long has the original business model been in operation? Is the business model built on a solid foundation consisting of proven marketing systems, administrative procedures, and a streamlined daily operations protocol? Does the business model meet your personal business requirements?

2. Location: Site selection is critical. Does the franchiser offer population-based exclusive territories? Does the franchiser have a tendency to sell franchises in close proximity to one another and, if so, are the multiple units operated by the same franchisee or by several different owners? What demographic policies are in place to ensure quality and quantity of clientele?

3. Cost: What is the total investment? Several different types of costs are involved, including the initial franchise fee paid in return for using the franchiser’s business concept/system and name for a limited time, ongoing royalty payments for the services and support provided by the franchiser, space rental and leasehold improvements, equipment purchases, working capital required to operate and advertising fees.

4. Training & Support: What is included in the training program offered by the franchiser and will it prepare you to run all aspects of your business efficiently and successfully? Also, what kind of field assistance, ongoing support, and marketing support can you expect from the franchiser? Are the advertising and royalty fees reflected in the quality of support offered? How is the management staff of the location hired and trained? In the fitness business, how are the certified fitness trainers located?

These are some of the topics that should be addressed and fully explained by a quality franchise and business opportunity. Fitness Together suggests doing your due diligence, thoroughly reviewing the Uniform Franchise Offering Circular (UFOC), and ensuring the original business model which the franchise is built upon meets your business goals.
